Colonial Energy receives approval to serve small commercial “Choice” customers behind Columbia Gas of Virginia.

Fairfax, Virginia – Colonial Energy announced today that it has received approval from Columbia Gas of Virginia (CVA) to serve natural gas customers under CVA’s Choice transportation program.  The Choice program is designed to provide non-regulated natural gas supplies to small commercial and residential customers.

Colonial Energy has been serving large industrial and institutional customers in Virginia since 1996, and its operational team has extensive experience with the interstate pipelines and gas utilities serving the state.  “Serving small commercial customers in Virginia is a natural fit for Colonial Energy, and will bring the energy savings experienced by our large industrial customers to the small business owners in the CVA territory” said Peter Camelotto, Regional Marketing Director of Colonial Energy. “Colonial will employ several dedicated, experienced supply consultants in Virginia to work hand in hand with commercial clients to determine and manage their energy needs”.

Colonial Energy, Inc. is pleased to announce that it has acquired natural gas marketer Utility Service Group of Atlanta, Georgia.

“Adding USG, their customers, and most importantly their experienced staff to our organization is a significant step for Colonial Energy” said Brian Kelly, Executive Vice President. “Not only does it expand our geographic reach to Georgia and Florida, but it adds marketing experience and knowledge that will enhance our services across our Eastern U.S. footprint”.

Utility Service Group will retain its office in Georgia and its marketing and operations personnel.
